Your Easter waste collections and recycling sites

Every household in Somerset will have Easter waste collection day changes, with pick-ups due on Good Friday 19 April taking place from 7am on Saturday 20 April.

No collections on Easter Monday 22 April mean all that week's kerbside services will be one day later, including Friday pick-ups from 7am on Saturday 27 April.

All recycling sites remain on their new summer schedules, with 10 sites open 9am to 6pm on Good Friday 19 April: Bridgwater, Chard, Frome, Highbridge, Minehead, Somerton, Taunton, Wellington, Wells and Yeovil.

All 16 recycling sites are open 9am to 4pm on both Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday.

Twelve recycling sites are open 9am to 6pm on Easter Monday: Bridgwater, Castle Cary, Chard, Cheddar, Crewkerne (£2 cash entry), Frome, Minehead, Street, Taunton, Wells, Williton and Yeovil.

To keep up to date with collections, recycling sites and more, sign up for our e-newsletter at www.somersetwaste.gov.uk or follow Somersetwaste on Facebook or Twitter.

Don’t be fooled by Council Tax scammers

Sedgemoor District Council is warning residents not to be taken in by a company claiming to be acting on behalf of Sedgemoor District Council.  Residents have told us that they have received calls either asking for up-front fee via the residents bank account and card details in return for ‘lowering their council tax band’ or checking if they are on the correct council tax band.

This is NOT a phone call from Sedgemoor District Council.  Council Tax bands are set by the Valuation Office Agency and can only be changed under certain conditions. Details can be found at www.gov.uk/council-tax-appeals.   If you think your band is wrong, contact the Valuation Office Agency - you will not be charged for the service.

If you are struggling to pay your Council Tax bill and need help, speak with a member of the Council Tax Team on who will be able to offer help and advice on 0300 303 7801.

If you have given over personal details, we would advise you to call the Police straight away on 101 and report the matter as an identity theft scam. The Police will also direct you to the Action Fraud helpline on 0300 123 2040.

Survey for Sedgemoor's Open Space, Sport and Recreation Study
Invitation to complete the residents survey

Sedgemoor District Council is currently in the process of preparing an Open Space, Sport and Recreation Study for the District which incorporates a Playing Pitch Strategy, a Play audit, a Built Facilities assessment and an assessment of informal recreation space.

This study aims to understand the current quality and quantity of provision, the current level of use and demand of each site and the expected level of future demand based on population projections. The assessment results will form part of the evidence base needed to protect existing sites, identify additional needs, support funding bids and inform negotiations with developers when securing contributions towards open space, sport and recreation facilities.
