About Puriton Primary School
Puriton Primary School is set in very pleasant surroundings reflecting our status as a traditional village school. It has a large playing field, enhanced by wooden adventure play equipment, tarmac playground, wildlife area, school pond and a memorial quiet garden. The school has served the village in various forms since 1720.
The School offers a wide range of extra-curricular sport clubs and activities to pupils. A School Council also meets regularly where children are encouraged to provide feedback on how their experience of school can be improved. Puriton Primary School is part of the Sedgemoor Learning Alliance and Sedgemoor Chatterbox which provide opportunities to take part in organized events.
The School is keen to maintain close links with the local community. Friends of Puriton Primary School (FOPPS), a charitable organisation, made up of parents, teachers and friends of the school, organises regular events where everyone is welcome. Our Foundation stage, which was identified by Ofsted as a particular area of strength, also works closely with Sunshine Pre-School and other feeder schools to ensure a child’s first days at school are happy ones.
A weekly newsletter is sent home to update parents on current issues and our website is regularly updated providing a further source of information.
