Puriton Playing Fields

Puriton Playing Fields is the registered charity that is responsible for the Sports Centre and playing fields at Churchfield Drove, off Batch Road, and the play area at the Village Hall.

Our major achievement in the past year has been the completion of the multi-use games area and youth shelter at the Village Hall. This was made possible by grants from Wyvern Waste, Somerset County Council and Sedgemoor District Council, as well as fundraising by a local group, Play 2000, plus, of course, lots of hard work by the charity trustees.

This year, we hope to commence phase two of the playground renewal scheme at the Village Hall, as well as improving disabled access to the site with the help of a Parish Council grant.

Our main target for fundraising at the moment is a lift at the Sports Centre, which would make our function room fully accessible to disabled users. A 20 week club has been launched to raise funds for this project and any interested villagers are welcome to join.
